translate "instigato" please?

just checking to verify that this means instigator.

i have a friend taking italian lessons whose non-native italian teacher didn't know the word. but someone else said it's kind of colloquial.

does anyone know for sure?

    Nope, it's a common term with no particular connotation (i.e. it's not formal, or colloquial, or dialectism, etc).
    Ro, "istigatore" is correct, as well as "istigazione" etc.

        L'altro giorno ho scritto "o" come prima persona presente della voce del verbo 'avere'. Era dalla seconda elementare che non mi capitava... ti sono vicina ;)

        No, 'istigare' non è per niente colloquiale, anzi, ha anche origine colta, nel senso che è passato direttamente dal latino all'italiano. Strano che a un italiano suoni colloquiale...
