I just joined this tribe in hopes of finding out more about my italian heritage. A few yrs ago i inherited a box of pictures & other memorabilia from my italian-side of the family. The past yr i have been typing up my great uncles journals on the accounts of world war II; about 100 pgs so far. I found these writings telling exact locations, detailed daily accounts, & a very emotional side to the experience of war. It is such great story of an italian-american fighting in his mother’s country. My great uncle was a paratrooper and his experiences included working alongside the canadian special forces, being a soul survivor in an ambush with an italian family taking him in & hiding him, the account of the bombing of the monastery where the last supper resided, the sadness of being a soldier during christmas time, and even a little bob hope entertainment. As i am still in the process of typing all these journals out i have started to try to make sense of the photos that i inherited. Unfortunately my italian is limited to tourist/travel. I would appreciate any help with translations. The following is what i have typed out from a photo of a gravestone. I was able to make out that bernardino pozzi was decorated with the silver metal and died in combat during world war I at lagazuoi piccolo. i would greatly appreciate a complete translation.
